MDAX (MDAXI) Index Highlights

The Mid-Cap DAX (MDAX) was introduced in January 1996 and originally consisted of 70 stocks. Since its reduction in 2003, the index now includes 50 companies from traditional sectors that follow the DAX-listed stocks in terms of market capitalization and trading volume. Thus, the index reflects the performance of so-called mid-cap stocks, which are medium-sized companies. To be included in the MDAX, companies must be listed on the Regulated Market of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and meet specific international transparency requirements. These include quarterly reporting, conducting an annual analyst conference, and publishing ad-hoc announcements in English as well. The MDAX is calculated during the Xetra trading hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on trading days. After the end of Xetra trading, the index is calculated based on the floor trading prices at the Frankfurt Stock Exchange between 5:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in the L-MDAX (Late MDAX), and between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. in the L/E-MDAX (Late/Early MDAX).
